The route, turn by turn

Exit centre · left onto Tilburn Road
Tilburn Road feeds into the Western Highway corridor. 60km/h, two lanes. Build promptly to the limit.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Slow build to the limit, obstructing traffic behind.

Western Highway service-road merge
Merge onto a service road that parallels the Western Hwy. Match the speed of traffic before merging — do not stop on the merge line unless forced.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Stopping on the merge line, then trying to merge from a standing start.

Roundabout #1 · two-lane
First of three roundabouts on the route. Two lanes — choose by exit. Signal correctly on approach and exit.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Approaching in the wrong lane for the chosen exit.

Multi-lane highway-style flow
A short stretch of highway-style 80km/h driving on a service-road bypass. Hold lane confidently — no weaving.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Hesitant lane position at 80km/h.

Roundabout #2 · single-lane
Smaller roundabout — single lane. Yield to traffic from the right, signal exit, smooth flow through the arc.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Stopping on the roundabout when a clear gap was already there.

School zone · 40km/h during hours
Primary school on the return loop. 40km/h within signed hours. Proactive speed reduction at the sign.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Not registering the school zone signage at all.

Reverse parallel park · suburban street
Two-car parallel park on a quiet street. Reference points and reverse-lock technique. Within 30cm of the kerb.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Ending up more than half a metre from the kerb.

Three-point turn · slight uphill camber
Three-point turn on a residential street with a slight uphill grade. Handbrake on between phases. Full lock both ways.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Rolling backwards on the uphill phase before engaging drive.

Roundabout #3 · entry from residential side
Third roundabout, this time entered from a side street. Yield right correctly — do not creep into the roundabout.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Creeping into the roundabout when a vehicle is approaching from the right.

Complex right turn · staged at lights
Unprotected right turn at a traffic light. Enter the intersection on green, wait in the box, turn when the gap appears or when the phase ends.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Not entering the intersection on green and missing the turn entirely.

Return on Tilburn Road · lane changes
Multiple lane changes on the return. Mirror, signal, head check, move. One lane at a time. The tester watches for the head check, not just the signal.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Lane change with signal but no shoulder check.

Return to test centre · parking
Back into the Deer Park service centre car park. Park in the bay, handbrake on, gear in park, await further instruction.
⚠ COMMON FAIL: Engine off before the tester confirms the test is over.
